Sekinchan's Longan : A Sucess Story
|
|
----------------------------Sekinchan’s Longan : A Success Story
When the effort by a farmer eight years ago in turning his four acres of paddy field into longan orchard, a village people think he made a big mistake but all the hard effort have now bore fruits. For Haji Shariff Abdullah, 61, the success of planting longan on the paddy field has proven to be a worth of effort.
------
Haji Shariff : Some time we need to belive on our instinct, but most of time we must put an extra effort to achive what we plan.
“ Praise to God. It took determination and faith to see my orchard become a success. Although I encountered minimal problems in the early years, I took every opportunity to learn from my mistakes and gain valuable experience. Yes, I am happy that my orchard bears sweet fruits for all to enjoy ” he said during the visiting at his orchard in Jalan Tali Air 11, Sekinchan Selangor.
Haji Shariff Abdullah’s longan orchard consists of 206 longan trees with each tree stands approximately one meter in height. Each tree is planted approximately 30 feet apart for optimal growth.
-----
-----
-----
While touring his orchard finding for a mature longan tree, Haji Shariff explains how he differentiates the good fruits to the bad. He said that, “ The dark-skinned fruit is a sign that the fruit has bore roots and is damaged, then if the fruit is overripe the flesh will be harder and has started to loose its sweetness ”.
-----
“ What left on the tree now is the remaining fruits from the last harvest circle on April and I expected another second harvest will be around this August ” as he explained that each season usually lasts four months, from flowering to harvesting of fruits. At the peak of the harvest season, each tree is able to produce 20 kilograms to 30 kilograms of fruit.

No New Photo As I Don't Have Nice One To Show
|
|
Point To Ponder :
| Quote: | | "Exhibiting your work for public scrutiny is very stressful but it can also be most gratifying thing you can ever do so please do a good job in the first place " John Cosgrove, The Editor of PhotoVideo, a Singapore photo and video magazine. |
Well, we all have to review what makes a picture work ?. A photograph must have something as basic as visual impact or a centre of interest for it to work. The goal of every photographer is to get people to stop and look at their pictures. Pictures that ask you to leave as soon as you see them fail to achieve this and yet it seems to be the most common mistake. Please ask ourself does our pictures contain any of the following ? Does it have any visual or color impact ? Does it contain any of the elements associated with the basic rules of composition i.e. leading lines, ROT etc. Does it tell a story or is it simply a record of the fact that we are there or is it just our snapshot ?
People say that all art is subjective and yes they are right, but there is also a basic contract between the viewer and the photographer that they have done the best job they. Come on, let's get a little bit of pride in our work, shoot it well and learn the basic rules of composition. When we exhibit work we are essentially opening up our skills to public scrutiny and to offer up images that are so badly taken in the first place only reflects poorly on us as a person.
